EUROLOGIST – Wednesday’s Wordapod

It’s always nice to coin a new word about, well, coins. This Wednesday’s Wordapod may be one of the more geeky ones (kind of) in my whole lexicon. EUROLOGIST is one of over 250 creative Wordapods to be found in Wordapodia, Volume One: An Encyclopedia of Real Fake Words.

Eurologist (n)one who studies foreign currency, especially but not exclusively those of the 12 European Union Nations

Sample Sentence

When I gave Tina an Israeli shekel, she studied it so thoroughly that I thought she was giving it a eurological exam.

Please Note

It used to be that Israeli coin fetishists like Tina would be called “Shekelologists”, but the term soon lost its status when their main networking group, Shekelologists Holding Industry Training, folded and became a part of Eurological Anal Technicians.

A rousing good time for many eurologists is a Pot Luck Dinar Dinner Party where pizza is always served, but the guests may bring dinars from all the countries where it is used. Eligible currency may come from countries such as Algeria, Bahrain, Iraq, Libya and Tunisia. These are spirited parties, but be careful:  many a guest has been known to have been thrown out for unwittingly bringing in a Moroccan dirham.
